Los
Angeles Hub - Special Military Charter
Updated February 28, 2002
Special Military Charter - The U.S. Air Force has been contracted with Noble Air to fly equipment from Los Angeles International Airport to their top secret base in the Southern Nevada desert. Groom Lake AFB, also known as Dreamland or Area 51 will not be found on any civilian charts. The challenge for this operation will be to locate and land at the airbase, somewhere to the North of Las Vegas, Nevada. Information in the Scenery file pvarea51.zip will assist in locating the airstrip. The trip to the base will require stopping off at Nellis AFB, about 11 miles North of Las Vegas, Nv. to pick up the parts for the Aurora Aircraft. Nellis AFB is the home of Red Flag, the US Air Force Weapons School, as well as the Air Force elite demo Squadron "The Thunderbirds". The Thunderbirds are really based at Indian Springs, Nv., but they call Nellis AFB home. The return trip will be direct to our Home base at Los Angeles International..
Area 51 - Groom Lake AFB - Dreamland

Using the Noble Air Douglas DC-8-62F or the Noble Air Hercules HC-130 to transport parts for the top secret Aurora project will require some keen navigation skills.

During the last flight into Area 51, one of our pilots was able to photograph a strange aircraft that had just taken off. Could this be the Aurora? The replacement for the SR-71 is said to have a speed of mach 6 at FL2000 Feet. (Note the extra zero)

Nav Aids
(Navigational Aids)
Please note all Nav Aids for this Air Force Base are fictional, and it is highly
likely that they are using UHF (Ultra High Frequency) Band (in GHz) as opposed
to VHF (Very High Frequency) Band (in MHz) as it has a far shorter range and
higher signal quality. They may also encrypt the signal. They may even use other
technology.
