Need to get a maintenance crew to my 747-C. We were having trouble with our ILS and was too high on final. Discovered and aircraft on the runway and made a avoidance go around. Made another approach and blew every tire on the right main gear.
Just testing the Lounge after a problem.
We are going to be here for a few days, Maintance says that the main landing gear stut needs to be replaced.
Tom.. I emailed you yesterday with a question. Waiting for your response.. LOL
Hi folks, just arrived from Tokyo this morning and overshot the 24R approach. I made a 180 left turn and ended up mistaking the woodford approach for manchester. Fell well below the minimum safe altitude (167ft) and almost went for a nice day out in the peak district... Deep shit i think!
It is time for us to depart Manchester and head to Tokyo, then Christchurch.
Dont worry about your overshoot, I am sure the locals will forgive you. I did something very similar last week avoiding that aircraft intruding onto the runway.
John
Have just returned from a couple of weeks visiting Mums and Dads in the UK.
Having Gary Summons' Manchester airport on my FS, I simply had to have a pint or two at the Airport pub whilst there. I presume most of you know it, but for those who don't, there's a nice looking pub adjacent to the end of runway 6L/24R called the Airport.
The first surprise was that they charged for car parking - 3 quid for an hour with a couple refunded at the bar, or 5 quid for longer with 3 refunded. (as I remember it)
In 40 years of world wide drinking I've never, but never, had to pay for a pub car park.
Surprise number 2 was the convivial atmosphere. I honestly thought I was in one of these places where you could pick up anything that had fallen from the back of a wagon - even to requesting it in your own colour. Not so much by the pub, but certainly by the clientelle. A shifty bunch and no mistake.
Surprise No.3. Only 2 choices of beer, both warmed nicely for those cold winter days, and one that would make a Newfoundland foggy day look like a view through cristal.
I have to say I was bitterly disappointed.
Surprise No.4 was when we left. Taxiing up to 24R to take off, I was absolutely gob smacked to see the pub garden jam packed with people. I realise it was a sunny Sunday afternoon, but I swear they must have been on water. Surely some of them must have realised the beer was rubbish !!
If anyone has had the privilidge to have used this establishment in the past, (at 2 quid a time, or 3 quid), please let me know.
If they don't make it 3 quid and 4 quid, I might just go back (with a bag of ice) for old times sake.
Happy flying.
Ron
Perhaps I called at a bad time, but the beer was warm and I could see further through a Newfoundland mist than I could through the plastic glass I was given. (Yes - plastic)
Hi Manchester Hub,
We here at the Gatwick Hub have a dedicated on-line server for ALL Noble Air Hub pilots to use. Feel free to drop in, most evenings some of us are they. Current IP for it is 84.66.92.236 or check www.nagfshost.fsworld.co.uk for the latest address.
Hope to see you there
Gary Welland
GOOD LUCK UMU IGBO.I DON PASS HERE OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hi Ron
Well, I'm afraid your experience does not surprise me. Serious students of the amber nectar take note. I thought when originally perusing your note that you were referring to Tom and myself as a 'shifty lot', true in my case!! I must say that the three 'local' airports I use, namely Newcastle, Prestwick and Glasgow have pretty reasonable catering arrangements and not too expensive. In fact, recently waiting for a flight to Zanthe at Glagow - delayed as turtles had invaded the runway, we found an excellent bar by the gate, very thoughtful. Sorry that EGCC did not provide similar service. Stick to the Hub Lounge.
Regards
Hugh
The following Press Release has just been issued.
NOBLE AIR VA 10th ANNIVERSARY.
Shortly, Noble Air, one of the, if not the, oldest virtual airlines will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary.
It was founded on 4th June 1994 by Tim Virkler flying out of San Francisco, using a Learjet 35A.
Since that time Noble Air has grown out of all recognition. It now operates from a series of Hubs, currently 19, covering the Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania, Pacific and Russia. Each Hub being run by a Hub Captain, who in some cases is aided by Assistant Hub Captains, and operate as “mini virtual airlines”, each with its own Route Schedule. The overall management is governed by an elected Board of Directors, thus it is true to say that is run by and on behalf of its pilots.
Its fleet consists of 34 types of aircraft, ranging from Boeing 777 and 747’s, right down to the Maule M7-260 Amphibian, and including the Augusta 109A MkII helicopter, each painted in the distinctive colours of Noble Air. Thus offering Pilots an exceptionally wide variety of flying experiences.
Included in the celebrations will be a Multi-Player Event at SFO and a Transatlantic Challenge. A more detailed history, memorabilia etc. and more information on the celebrations will be found on our website at :-http://www.nobleord.com/noble10th/home.asp.
Noble Air are always recruiting pilots, of all abilities, although some Hubs are fully staffed, there are vacancies available somewhere. This, along with the possibility to transfer between Hubs gives a huge choice of routes on which to fly. More details regarding joining can be found at www.nobleair.com.
Hello Everybody
With Noble air we have somewhere in the region of some 500+ Virtual pilots. To which it seems that only a handful of us actually do any online Noble flights.
We need the Support, every pilot on all hubs have modems and access to the net. How else do they log their hours :-lol
In this support all I am suggesting is that at least for 1 hour over the weekends you all come join in the noble flyins.
it not important how good or bad you fly, land, navigate. just come in and have some fun.
Lets face whats the point on spending money for internet service and games which multi-play if you dont use em.
Come on in have some real fun and fly at the same time. I have learnt more online about flying and software fixes, add-ons, etc just by having fun.
The few of us that do fly online are a great bunch and help and laugh.
GIVE US some SUPPORT Please.
Hope to see you online soon
Noble Pilot Tony.

Thats some collection of pilots. i am thinking of counting them all after the festive.

Noble Air Splash Screens available on flightsim.com
I have created two sets of Noble Air splash screens that are now available on flightsim.com. Complete instructions for installation are included in each zip file. Our really cool CEO Joe Fritsch has also agreed to post these here on the main site. If you want them now use the search feature and look in the FS2004 Splash Screens. Search for either "Noble Air Splash Screens" or "Ms. Dale R. Carlson". Also included is a file listing my 30 reasons for why you should fly for Noble Air.
These are designed for use with a splash screen randomizer but can also be used singly.
I have posted a third set of Noble Air Splash Screens on flightsim.com. Use the search feature for "Noble Air" and they will be the only ones that come up under the FS2004 Splash Screens. As of today there have been 76 downloads of the first two sets.
There is going to be a flyin at the Boston Hub this weekend. It will start at 9pm JST, 12noon zulu and 8am EDT. This seems to be the best time for everone.
At the start of the flyin, you will depart from the loaction of your choice and head toward KBOS. An hour flight is suggested for this event. You will recieve ATC instructions as you approach. Please visit teamspeak to get the IP address for the host.
I hope to see you online!

As of 26 June 2005 the Multiplayer host will not show an IP number.
nava.hopto.org put this into IP address in FS
http://nava.hopto.org is the host info page
Flight simulator 2002 and 2004 both work via this
and stops every one hunting for an number which changes to often.
This info is Thanks to Gary Welland who first got this running.
nava stands for Noble Air Virtual Airline

Can still navigate my way around the Country and overseas.
Can Tom contact me about rejoining.

Tom,
I can't understand why we are unable to contact each other. I've replied to your e-mails, the last one being dated 16th July.
In fact if you look at the "Assignment", "Hub Roster" and "News" pages of this website, you'll find that you have been entered as an Active Pilot.
Please try to e-mail me again. If all else fails, post a reply here.
Tom.

We hope to see you there

Hello? Anyone about? Mine's a pint Dolores! Just got back from LOWI where RCV3 tried to vector me straight into a mountain and then had the cheek to complain about course and altitude deviation. Should have gone for the non-vectored option. However, still in one piece and ready for a pint of the foaming amber. Anyone else?
Hugh
Hi Hugh,
Couldn't have seen you in the corner - must be all the dust and cobwebs. I'll try to get it cleaned up, afraid the old place has got a little neglected.
Anyway, good to see you back!!!
Tom
Just got back from Paris after experiencing low viz. haze all the way there and back with fairly severe chop. Upset some passengers gin! Och weel! A pint of Blind Navigator Dolores! Cheers Tom, I think the dust and cobwebs add to the ambience.
Regards
Hugh
Just had an urgent request from the expat community in Cyprus. They can't get any decent black pudding out there.
How about arranging a fresh delivery on our next flight to Larnaca?
Any takers?
Tom.
Hi Tom
Got the urgent message. Just about to pop off to Larnaca, fortunately only 85 PAX so 16000lb. Black Puddings in cargo hold and an extra 3000lb. in Baggage! That's gonna cause a real surprize to the baggage handlers at Larnaca. Incidentally we could not get any puds from Bury in time (imposters anyway) so we got a couple of truckfuls from our Cumbrian supplier (to The Queen no less).
Pip Pip!
See you in the bar later.
Hugh
Hi,
I've just had this information sent from the Gatwick Hub.
If anyone is interested, follow the link below.
TAKKER DE (Thank you) ANGBAND FLYIN
SUNDAY EVENING 20th MAY
1900 BST (1800 Zulu/GMT)
This flyin is in the way of a tribute to Thomas (SittingSparrow) for providing us with our TS and FSHost server for so long. We will still be able to use Angband for this event.
We will fly from Gatwick to Gardermoen Airport (ENGM) in Oslo Norway. This will be an ATC controlled flight using Teamspeak. Pilots from other European Hubs may choose to fly from their Hub airports and receive ATC on arrival at Oslo. The flight will take place in actual time to give an evening dusk arrival. The return flight will be an option.
Open the Flyin Webpage from the link immediately below. Let us making this a successful and memorable event.

Hi All
Just returned from Nairobi - long flight - so... a pint of 'hows yer father' Dolores and a nosebag of black puddin' and mushy peas. What do you mean - we sent it all to Cyprus!
Anyone from here fancy the flyin on the 20th? Sounds like fun.
Hugh
Hi Folks,
Just been on a follow-up flight to Larnaca, seems like they got one huge complaint.
Hugh, you forgot the godd old English Mustard, the local stuff just don't do the Black Puddings justice!! Had Dolores make up a couple of gallons of it (to her special recipe) and am just about to do another delivery trip.
Pity about the flyin on the 20th. but me and the wife sail on the 18th to cruise the Norwegian Fjords for 10 days. Maybe next time. It'll make a change from flying!!!
Tom
Has Tom got lost in a Norwegian Fjord?? Perhaps captured by the Vikings!
Nat,
I'm not long back home from a trip to the UK and was wondering myself.
Tom, if you're "tempoarily unsure of your position" please get in touch and we'll club together and send out an aviation posse.
On a more serious note, if your health is the cause of your absence, then I'm sure we would all wish you a fast recovery.
Ron
Glad to see you back Tom.
Thanks, Nat, it's good to be back. Thought at one point I wsan't going to manage to get it all together again!!
